Nacirema was the outcome of a grant-funded project created for the Source Festival in Washington, DC (supported by the Creative Communities Fund through the Cultural Development Corporation) in collaboration with theatre director Debbie Arseneaux and visual artist Tewodross Melchishua. Presented in June of 2011 and scored for solo percussion, this piece featured one lead and several supporting actors, as well as live video, and was set on a stage that surrounded the audience.
