Notes
Duality is the concert at the core of this piece. Although the piece is written for a solo performer, fixed electronics are used to create the fictional acoustic image of a sort of duet in which the full-bodied, contemplative sound quality of the alto flute is contrasted with the light but lively, sometimes virtuosic concert flute. The idea is to create a dissonance between what one sees on stage and what one hears.
